Charlie, who entertained an entire generation, is the inspiration behind this cool, South Beach vibe café and bar in the metro. Atop Century City Mall, Chaplin’s glass walls generously pours light into the café inviting diners to lounge, sit back or just chill.
The menu is an eclectic mix of cultures spanning the Americas to the Middle Eastern, sprinkled with a bit of Filipino favorites in between. Chaplin’s All-Day Breakfast has something for everyone – the traditional diner will enjoy the waffles or the American breakfast but an adventurous one will surely enjoy the Chaplin Breakfast. Chaplin breakfast has home baked ciabatta served with chop salad and an eight (8) – yes, 8 dip platter : Olive Relish, Spicy Cream Cheese, Shakshouka dip, Feta, Eggplant, Tahini, Pesto and Tuna, it also comes with two eggs (cooked according to your preference) and options to add toppings of Mushroom, Tomato, Onion, Mozzarella Cheese and Asparagus!
Another must-try breakfast option is the Shakshouka : Two (2) Eggs poached in Tomato Sauce, Chili peppers and Onions. This is served either as is or with the diner’s preferred addition of Black Olives, Eggplant & Feta; Jalapeno and Mozzarella or Meatball. Comes with a big warm ciabatta to sopped up the sauce. An enjoyable breakfast!
But what gave me a pleasant surprise is the cup of Bacon Cappuccino. The bacon gave the cuppa a bit of the salty taste and the feeling that one is having breakfast in a cup as well. Clever!
Another intriguing drink is the Salmon Milkshake! I didn’t get to taste this one but I will when I go back. I also plan to sample their Meatball Iced Tea.
I came out of the café/bar smiling. I just had a big, happy breakfast and everything is alright in my world. That’s the power of a good meal.
