3 fun things we did in Novotel Manila

Last weekend,  I decided to pack my overnight bag, and with my family, headed to Novotel Manila Araneta Center Hotel.  I anticipated a restful, contemplative weekend for me while my boys were gung-ho to try out all the facilities in the hotel.

Here’s how we spent the weekend closeted inside the hotel:

  • Enjoyed our rooms :  we stayed in the Executive Suite and, loved it. The room has a big living room (sofa can fit all 4 of us comfortably) with a huge TV,  fully-stocked bar and a working table; lots of closet space; the bathroom has a tub that begs for candlelight baths (she’s a beauty!); and the bedroom with one of the softest beds, another TV (which no one opened during our stay) and a sofa, perfect for reading.  (Oh, it also has a powder room for visitors).

The boys stayed in the Deluxe Room with 2 beds. My son enjoyed the view of the swimming pool from the window and the sound system which allowed him to play all his songs while chilling 🙂

  • Tried all the facilities :  They have two (2) swimming pools : one for adult and one for kids; an outdoor and indoor playground; a fitness center, spa, Premier Room that serves high-tea and cocktails; and a Library/x-box room. My boys didn’t get bored at all.

  • Ate all we can :  The buffet spread at Food Exchange keeps getting better! On-going is the Asean Street Food Fest featuring well-loved street food and heirloom recipes from 8 different countries – Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, China and India.  We sampled fish balls, kwek-kwek, satay, rojak, pho, chicken pandan, takoyaki, a variety of dimsums and samosas, as well as crowd-pleasers – Macadamia Kare-Kare and Sisig Paella of Chef Sau del Rosario. Hands down, it was like travelling around Asia in one happy meal.

So what are my favorites? Apart from the food, I especially enjoyed reading in the happy reading chair inside the bedroom, the book selection in the Library and the wines served at the Premier Club. I also liked that our rooms and all the areas we visited are clean, with enough service crew to assist, serve and keep it spotless.  Next time around, I’ll check out the spa 🙂

Overall, we had a good stay with Novotel. The boys swam, played, exercised and ate to their hearts’ content and I was able to find a good book, spend my quiet time and have a restful sleep.
